Open and Save a Design
Open a Design
From the File tab, click the Open icon to bring up your computer drives, folders and individual designs. Double-click folders to show the contents.
When you locate the design, click on it to select it, then click Open. The design will appear on the work page.

Click the down arrow next to the Open icon on the File tab Tool Bar to access additional options.
Merge places the file on the current work page. (The File Open command places the design on a new work page.) If you want to add a design to a design already open on the current work page, use the Merge command instead of the Open command.
Recent Files is a handy way to access the nine most recently saved files with drive and folder location. This is an easy way to recall and open recent design files.
Special Files will open the Quilt Block library, the Monogram library and the Edge-to-Edge Quilting Design library.
Save a Design File
When saving a design for the first time, it is important to save the file in the .c2s format (on a hard drive, USB stick or other storage device). This is the native format for the My Quilting Studio software.
The .c2s version of the file can be re-opened to edit or change. Modifying and editing features are more accessible in this native format as compared to the stitch file format.
Once the .c2s format is saved, save the file again in the stitch format compatible with your embroidery machine. See below.
On the File tab, locate the Save icon and click the downward arrow to open additional options.
Save As

Click Save As to save the design file as a stitch file with the name of your choosing (see below).
Save As Image will save the work page design as either a .jpg or a .png raster image.
Export Artwork is the command to use to save artwork (vector files). Select from .svg, .ai, .plt, .dxf or .fcm. The routine File > Save As won’t work.
Export Quilt: In order to save designs and layout in the Quilt Layout Wizard, the quilt must be “exported” instead of simply saved. See more information in “Laying Out a Quilt.”
Special Files: Click for the flyout menu to save designs in the Piecer Quilt Block library, as a Monogram, or in the Edge-to-Edge Quilting library.

File Save As: The green arrow points to the field where you type the file name. The red box is a drop-down list of compatible stitch formats.
Save to a USB Drive
A USB Flash Drive (also called a memory stick, USB stick, thumb drive, etc.) is a convenient method of transferring a design file from the computer to the embroidery machine.
Make sure you have a USB stick in the USB port on your computer. Use Save As, then locate and select the USB drive in the computer listings.
Check the owner’s manual for your embroidery machine for details on how to transfer embroidery files to your machine.
